Forthcoming Events at Baslow Village Hall
Friday 19th & Saturday 20th October Doors open 7pm for 7.30 pm start
Baslow Players present 'HighLites' - a World Premiere stage version of Radio 4 comedy by Phil Nodding and Steve Chambers especially written for Baslow Players
Licensed bar both nights
Tickets from Baslow Spar Shop or Box Office 01246 583460 £8 Friday/ £16 Saturday including meal.
The action centres in a hair-dressing salon called 'HighLites' and the audience will recognise the acerbic style of salon owner, Bev and her soft-centred employee, Shirl, and other village characters! Director Kate Stuart, says 'It's always good to perform new material, and an honour for this to be written especially for us. This time the challenge includes creating the impression of a working hair dressing salon. Member Zoe Wareham contacted the writers, Phil Nodding and Steve Chambers, after enjoying an episode on the radio and recognising it's potential for Baslow Players as a modern comedy with several strong female characters, it has been a two year project to get it on the stage.
Baslow Players have a record of successful and popular annual pantomimes performed in late February, and perform a play every two years. 'HighLites' will continue the tradition of donating the profits of the play to a charity (Chesterfield Hospital cancer ward and Helen's Trust to date), and (H)Air Ambulance this year!
So, come and see what it's all about and have a great night out!
